I’ve been caught shouting at the telly again 🙈

The “star” on the morning show was being interviewed about their album coming out.

I was watching, interested… and hoping to hear passion, excitement, inspiration sprinkled with some magic on top.

All I heard was filler words (I mean… you know… just …), never-ending sentences and an unclear message about how great this new album is.

They didn’t make me wanna grab my phone and download.

And I thought that this was such a huge opportunity to inspire an audience. Why not take it and nail it?

So once again, I got frustrated and started shouting at the telly.

My husband looked up form his coffee and very calmly said: “You should write to them and tell them what they could do differently next time.”

And he was right (again 🙄)

So I decided to share with you all “My 3 Simple Steps to Be an Inspiring Speaker” :

✅ What’s Your Goal?

Spend 5 minutes before your talk thinking about what you want to achieve. Think: What do I want my audience to think and feel after they heard me talk?

✅ Tell a story.

What was the personal story that’s behind the message you’re sharing? How did it start? What challenges did you have to overcome to get to where you are? How did you overcome them? What was the result? What can we learn from it? And please remember .. if you’re not passionate about your story, how can you expect your audience to be?

✅ Prepare, Plan and Rehearse.

Spend time preparing and rehearsing your talk. Block time out in your calendar. Get up 15 minutes earlier. Go over your talk when walking the dog, on your daily commute or doing the school run. It will be worth it. I speak from experience when I say, if you don’t prepare for it it ain’t gonna go the way you dreamt it up in your head.

Every time you speak in front of others you have the beautiful opportunity to inspire. Don’t miss out on it.
